banana hazelnut chip soft serve
4 simple ingredients never tasted so good! Skip the frozen cream, the eggs and the ice cream maker all together.
Combining frozen bananas, nut butter, almond milk and chocolate chips makes for a delectable treat that is totally satisfying. This is as easy as it sounds and can be completely dairy free by omitting the chocolate chips. The hardest part is waiting for this to semi-freeze.
The base of our ice cream is banana. The key to the natural sweetness of this dessert is overly ripened bananas-- i'm talking super soft nearly black in color. If you have the good ol' yellow nanners handy you can try those instead but you will more than likely need to add some sweetness to this. Avoid the white crack also known as sugar and try adding some honey or coconut sugar as your sweetener of choice.
I used ginger bread dark chocolate hazelnut coco butter from You Fresh Naturals in this recipe. Let me just say that if you haven't tried them out you haven't lived. You Fresh Naturals is the queen of all nut butters and is only available online. They offer the most incredible limited quantity flavors like dark chocolate ginger bread, red velvet, carrot cake and crushed paleo chocolate chip cookie coconut butter--that last one, umm what?! Try them out, they won't disappoint. What I was aiming at here is that you can use any kind of nut butter you have on hand--almond butter or peanut butter will be just as yummy.
Makes one serving if you are a glutton or 2 servings if you can share.
3 - Overly ripe semi frozen sliced bananas
1 heaping TBSP You Fresh Naturals Hazelnut butter (or any nut butter of your choice)
A few splashes of almond milk--just enough to give this a smooth texture
2 TBSP of choc chips or as many as you can handle really
*try carob chips or cacao chips for a dairy free option
Combine all ingredients and blend until smooth. The blending may thin this out a bit so return the mixture to the freezer for a few minutes before you indulge. If you plan on making a larger batch to enjoy extra for later, be sure to take this out and let thaw for a few minutes to achieve that soft serve texture. Fold in your chocolate chips rather than blending for an extra crunch.
